Las Vegas does this to a person...

Here I am, starting to get excited just a month before the biggest event we have all year.  The economy is starting a rebound.  That's not an optimistic me talking, it's the construction industry, the stock market, housing and a few other indicators well regarded by analysts showing the way. Suppliers are registering for our World Expo, some a little later than in previous years, my hunch is they are hanging on to their money as long as they can.  They wouldn't want to miss the show, but are taking a conservative approach to managing their cash like many other businesses.  Franchisees are registering as well, realizing this is a different year - one that demands they engage assistance and advice.  I have spoken to  a few franchisees on the phone and through emails who say they are not coming.  They cannot afford the trip, or because they all can't go this year, they've justified no representation at Expo for their store this year.  Each Expo brings in a bit over 70% of our franchisees... they'll be in that other 25-30% I guess.  I don't agree with the mindset that makes that decision, I know the help they can receive by attending is worth the sacrifice they'd have to make.  I hope these franchisees do something to improve their situation - something more than just saying, "No" to this opportunity.  We can hold an impressive event this year, but my experience says the people that really need it the most, that would benefit the greatest by attending, won't show up.  I'll be glad to arrive and see all that do make the trip - they'll come with a smile, getting away for even a few days does wonders for a recharge.

All this preparation and build up has me thinking about what I feel like leading up to the event.  Going to Caesars Palace in May to complete the final on-site planning was good for me.  It revved me up again, about the property we've chosen, about the location (Vegas) and all our franchisees will experience at the Expo.  The food was great, I love the sleeplessness I leave that city with each time, there are so many things to see and do.  It energizes me to be there, it really is a special place, regardless if gaming is to your liking.  Anyone that sees where we are going will get the same feeling - well, perhaps not all the sleeplessness, but the rest is a given.  I invite you to come to Expo, experience it all, see a show, eat well, learn, and reconnect with friends and classmates.  It will make a difference no matter how long you've owned your business.  Say, "Yes" and watch what happens!
